Overview

Youth programs provide quality services to young adults, ages 16-24, who are out-of-school and face barriers to education and employment. Program services begin with an in-depth assessment to determine appropriate services for educational attainment, career exploration, and opportunities for job related training and employment focused on in-demand careers.

Eligible youth are able to receive additional support through:

Educational Achievement

  • Alternative secondary school services or dropout recovery services
  • Tutoring, study skills training and instruction
  • Activities that help prepare for and transition to postsecondary education and training
  • Financial literacy

Employment Preparation

  • Paid and unpaid work experiences, internships, and job shadowing
  • Occupational skills and training
  • Work readiness classes
  • Entrepreneurship skills
  • Services to provide information on in-demand careers and employment information around career awareness, counseling, and exploration

Integrated Support for Youth

  • Support services
  • Adult mentoring
  • Follow-up services
  • Comprehensive guidance and counseling
  • Leadership development opportunities
